The Unknown Flower

Strands of purple springing
from the white core, petals
that merge into white toward the end,
more mauve than purple
dotted and striped with white,
thin lines, like worms,
splattering from a white core
with a yellowish-green blob in the center,
six lime-colored bulbous filaments
elicit from the blob, lemony yellow
spotted with small brown specks,
soft to touch, grainy pollens in the center,
the unknown flower, peeking
through three-pronged leaves
dark green, like felt cloth touching
the fingertips, the nameless flower
with mystery wrapped around,
filled my heart with laments
that have no name.
