The Damning Bells

Oh, look at those alloyed brass bells!
Danger of the future their jingle foretells.
Times not known tinkle, tinkle, tinkle,
And ominous vivacity they sprinkle
With their perfect and melodious twinkle.

They tell tales of the foreboding night
That speaks of deafening delight.
They unease the escaping time,
And speaks of a spell that has no rhyme.

Deep, shadowy, and damning wells,
That’s the future that chimes through the bells.
